7 months
Greetings, friends!
As weather cools and the mosquito population mercifully dies off, I'm ruminating over two things: 1) I'm turning 32 tomorrow, and 2) today marks my 7th month at home. Though I did have a couple nights in that cabin, so don't feel too bad for me. But returning to my first point: I threw out my back last Wednesday and spent the next few days largely immobilized and am only just now getting back to normal. The dramatic irony of having intense back pain just days before I drift further away from 30 does not escape me.
I feel so strange about this lost year. For now, I am anchored (buoyed?) by the weekly rituals in my life. Phone calls with friends. Meetings with community organizers. Therapy sessions. And my little writing group.
