Greetings, friends!
On Saturday we met up with some neighbors for dinner at Stingers on the Waterfront. The restaurant overlooks the tail end of Darby Creek, which flows into the Delaware River. I’ve lived in Delaware County since 2019, and this was the first I’d heard about a marina. Having grown up in Orange County and attended college in Oakland, marinas were never anything special to me; I’m really not a boat person—as a mammal sans webbed feet, I’m best suited for dry land. But 4 years in (what I’d believed to be) a landlocked county will change a guy.
Giddy with excitement, I donned my “Delco Tuxedo” (a button-up shirt and shorts with a real hem) and drove my husband out to Ridley Park. Just beyond our table, small vessels bobbed amid clusters of aquatic plants and, in true Delco fashion, a pair of roaring freeways crisscrossed in the distance.
