Greetings, friends!
This is my final newsletter of the year, which merits a little reflection. I present to you, my 2023, by the numbers:
January: We started the year with Sit & Write #170, and are closing out on #216 next week. 47 sessions x 2.5 hours = 117.5 hours spent writing, not including the mini Sit & Writes or hours spent writing alone, both of which I’ve completely lost track of.
February: The first ever Sit & Read, a.k.a. the best book club ever, in my highly biased opinion. We read Parable of the Sower (Octavia Butler), followed by 13 other books in the months that followed. I also read 4 other books on my own, for a total of 18. I don’t think I’ve voluntarily read this much in a single year since elementary school, so I guess the format suits me.
March: It’d been almost a year since I’d left my stressful/stable job at Penn and I still hadn’t found a new career. I decided to focus on freelancing in the meantime, which included a big leap from TinyLetter to Substack in an ef…
