January updates + Sit & Write #124
Greetings, friends!
Last weekend's "MEGA" Sit & Write was a great success, with nearly a dozen attendees over the course of the session. At the end, we set some informal literary goals for the year to come. Here are mine: to get at least one piece of writing published in 2022, to finish this draft of the novel (that was also my 2021 goal), to read more books, and to take another writing class and/or go on a residency/retreat of some sort.
More updates on my life, since it's been a while:
I got a personalized rejection letter from a major magazine today, which feels like a step in the right direction. It indicated that the editor had clearly read my piece, and she encouraged me to pitch again in the future, which I will. I am always grateful for rejection letters that are more than just a generic copy/paste job. If I am ever in the position to screen submissions for a publication, I hope I can offer that same courtesy.
