Long story short...
Greetings, friends!
I recently filled out an application that required a synopsis of my novel in progress. I’ve had to do this a lot now, and it gets easier every time. At first, I’d spend days mulling over how to best to encapsulate the meandering themes and happenings of my 120k+ word saga. I’d ultimately end up with an unruly paragraph that accurately reflected how disjointed my ideas were at the time. Check out my 2020 synopsis of Haunt:
After being exiled from an online queer community, emotionally-stunted Em must learn how to take up space in the real world, joining The City’s economically precarious queer scene, getting a job working at a popular haunted house, falling in love with a noncommital activist, forming real adult friendships, and moving out of their shifting family home. Meanwhile, Angel, a janitor at the nefarious tech conglomerate responsible for decimating The City’s creative spaces and affordable housing, grapples with if and how to stop the destruction of her home…
