Greetings, friends!
Thanks to everyone who tuned in to last week’s Sit & Share virtual open mic. I’m really enjoying this low-stakes opportunity to read my work to others and to get a better sense of everyone’s style.
I don’t know if other prose writers feel this way, but it seems like there’s a real lack of opportunities for us non-poets, particularly fiction writers, to casually perform for our peers. Anyone know of a fiction open mic in town? If not, any interest in starting one with me?
Really though, why is it that most literary events seem to center poetry? Is it a simple length issue? Or perhaps it’s a fundamental difference in temperament. Before I start pathologizing novelists, let’s take this chat to the comment section, which will be open to everyone this week.
