I just found out about an interesting grant opportunity from the Elizabeth George Foundation. I'd attended a panel at AWP that referenced the program and when I googled it, their website just said to send a postcard for more info. Old school, but okay. A few weeks later, an envelope arrived containing a pamphlet and a couple other documents explaining the application process. Be forewarned: it's convoluted and labor intensive process. BUT--if you can jump over all the hurdles and get them an application letter, a C.V., a sample of your writing, contact information for 5 professional references (omg), and a $25 check by July 1, you could get a massive grant--enough to cover MFA tuition or to pay for all your expenses while you work on a big writing project.
