Sit & Write #151
Greetings, friends!
Today was the last session of my novel-writing class, which is bittersweet. Sweet because I got some good novel writing done, and met some lovely people. Bitter because I didn't plow as far through my rewrite as I'd hoped. I did the math at the end of our class today and realized I have just 13 weeks until my VCCA residency, which I'd hoped to spend editing. At the end of the day, it's ok if I don't have the novel finished by then. I can work on it there. Buuuuut if I want to stick to my original plan, I'll need to rewrite/write 2 chapters EVERY WEEK between now and then. That's... a lot. Luckily, much of it is already written and just needs to be rearranged and revised, and I have a solid outline to guide me along the way. In NaNoWriMo speak, there are "plotters"--people who outline their stories--and "pantsers"--people who prefer to fly by the seat of their pants. I certainly fall into the former category.
