Weekend recap + SAW #4
Dear friends,
My dogs decided to become poets. I know this because at Saturday night's housewarming/reading, both Frank and Charles regularly inserted themselves into the performances, strolling nonchalantly between audience and reader, pausing to lick themselves loudly at inopportune moments, etc. Dogs will be dogs. But really, it was all on theme, as Zach's book, Black Dog Drinking From an Outdoor Pool is about just that: dogs becoming people, people becoming dogs, dogs grappling with their in/humanity, people grappling with their animal natures.
I read my flash fiction short about the cruise ship and an excerpt from the novel. Zach and I read alongside Zoe Tuck, who read from her new chapbook, Soft Investigations. It's not online yet, but she does have a pdf of a previous book available for free download here. Zoe's wife Britt Billmeyer-Finn read some wonderful poetry too.
